This is "Hatton's Forest of Dean" in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Owned by Paul and Kathy Hatton. Paul's family came from the Royal Forest of Dean in Gloucester, England.
The land was last owned by the Worthington family from Lancashire, England and the Twinings, old name was Twenynge of Painswick, Gloucester, England to Tweksbury, Gloucester, England. The Twinings first erected a Mill not far from this location in 1661. The Mill is now a beautiful home.
Paul Raymond Hatton, my brother, is a great bow hunter and wanted his own forest to hunt on. Fortunately he was able to purchase this beautiful forest with an abundance of game.
Who would ever has imagined that two families from Gloucester, England would own this forest for over 346 years.
Originally a farm it is now a hunting forest with a few evergreen Christmas trees that are harvested each Christmas Season.
William the Conqueror would arrive in Gloucester every Winterfest [Christmas time] and hunt in the Royal Forest of Dean.
Our Hatton family lived at Lea Bailey, Bailey Brook within the Forest and also at Dancing on the Green. They attended church in the Village of Hope Mansell, Hereford. They were able to walk from their home to the parish church.
The first member recorded in England were born in Ruardean.
However recent DNA tests have shown that the family or branches lived in Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Cornwall and Isles off the Scottish coast like Iona and the Isle of Mann.

During the time of William, and later Kings and Queens of England, it was illegal to build within the Royal Hunting Forest Except if you could build a cottage before nightfall and have smoke rising from the chimney. Cornelius Hatton, or his father, did just that and the Hatton home remains till this day.
The home is on a hillside shaded and quite beautiful and overlooks the home of Richard or Philip Hatton in the meadow below. The descendants of the Mansel family lived in the next cottage. The name Mansel has been changed from it's original French name. of possibly Malosiel oe a variant.
The family sailed to America at various times and returned to England. The family was last baptised at St. Michael's in the Village of Hope Mansel.

Genetic Genealogy [DNA] has shown a relationship beyween some Hattons, Huttons and Hyatts from Gloucester and Wales.

Gordon Hatton of America and Gordon Hutton of Wales for instance. Gordon William Hatton Sr. is our brother, now deceased.

Paul Hatton with Bow in Hatton's Forest of Dean
Paul picked up a Bow at about age 10 and has never been without one since.
Interesting site that reminds me of Paul is Robin Hood who was said to have been born in Gloucester, England. The Cantata for Robin Hood was written by John Hatton.....see Robin Hood.
In Robin Hood look for Simon de Monfort as the de Montforts took the name of Hatton and became Lords of Hatton in Warwickshire. The Earls of Warwick [The Rich family] are also related and named a son Hatton Rich. There are Hatton and Rich DNA matches.
Under Construction, more to come....
Another interesting site is King Arthur's Knights. Here we have GAWAINE, one of his favorites. I have often wondered about HORSWAINE, the brethren of Wolfrath/Wolfram the Priest who took the Church of Runcunne in Chester and became supposedly the first Lord Hatton. At that time there lived a Monk called Wofric/Wolfram, another name used for Wolfrath. Wolfric was born in Warwickshire in 1088 and was the only Bishop that William the Conqueror kept after the Conquest in 1066. It seems possible that these two could be confused as Hatton parish was also in Gloucester near Warwickshire.
Hatton history is almost always miss-interpreted.
History states brethren of Wolfrath and not brothers, meaning they were not related but brethren in the church.
Genetic Genealogy indicates thus far no relationship between any Hattons and Duttons, or any of the other four brothers/brethren.
Thus far the Hattons are CELTIC as well as some Huttons. There are also Viking Huttons.
The Celts [Kelts] tribes migrated from Northern Italy, where they attacked Rome and destroyed it, to Spain, Portugal, France and Brittany. More on that history later...

Paul Hatton's Santa's Hat, a great Christmas Gift, is at the
Saint Nicholas Shoppe.
In researching we discovered that many of the Hattons were Ship Captains. The ships were used by the families to sell rum and sugar cane from plantations in mostly the Southern States and throughout the Caribbean. In Dominica they had one of the the largest plantations called Hatton House and Hatton Garden.
They sailed to England and Lisbon, Portugal, and likely France while the families managed the plantations.
Because many were Loyalists and because of the Civil War much of their wealth was lost.
It is important to remember that other branches, possibly from differing origins, were from Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Cornwall. These families were of differing faiths and means.
One married to Joseph Hatton was a Quaker Preacher. The first families of Philadelphia and New Jersey were mixed with others from VA and Maryland. Sir Thomas Hatton, acting Governor of Maryland and Secretary to Lord Baltimore,
was the brother of others who were primarily barristers. Because many kept their estates in England and returned there to die it is difficult to follow some of the lineages.
The Philadelphia Hattons lived primarily in Philadelphia and Chester. Some were likely descended from the early family recorded in 1066 in Cheshire/Chester, England, but not all.
Irish and Scottish Hattons also migrated to Philadelphia and through-out PA.
There are many Hatton House Estates. Just enter "Hatton House" in the google search below.
